Connect & Grow
Transition to Community Groups
We are renewing our focus on multiplying disciples by launching Community Groups in Oct 2016.
Community Groups will differ from our existing Small Groups in these ways:
The primary difference is a focus on being missional (intentionally asking the Lord for and seeking opportunities to make disciples)
CGs will be the main place where "church" happens (grow community, celebrate Communion together, and be the first place you consider inviting a non-Christian friend or family member to)
Like SGs, CGs will continue to be a place where we get into God's Word and pray together.
The process for launching CGs:
Ongoing meetings with current Small Group leaders on what CGs will look like and the transition process. Each SG member should pray about how God is leading them in reaching out to others. While we envision many existing SGs staying together as a CG, we want people to at least consider forming anew with a mission in mind, such as starting a new group around common interests (not just existing relationships, geography, or life stage). As new ideas come up, please communicate these with P. Warren so we can connect like-minded people.
We will start a sermon series in the book of John in mid-August, and each CG will be encouraged to study John together in the Fall, using the "3 question" study method we will be using for Discipling Groups. Our hope is this equips each person to lead a DG.
Questions? See P. Warren (warren [@] cornerstoneseattle.com) or your Small Group leader.
3 Question Bible Study:
1)What does this passage reveal about God, Jesus and Holy Spirit?
2)What does this passage say about us and what we should do?
3)What can you do this week in response to what you have learned?
